CKD, Ember & Brune Co-founder / Interior Designer
From a young age Brandie McCoy loved architecture & furnishings. Deeply influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright & his determination to follow his heart & not be swayed by popular opinion - he stuck to his design convictions. He approached home design as an experience; everything from structure to furniture was part of his designs. Wright is well respected to this day for having created an elevated living experience for his clients. Brandie emulates this ethos.
Most recently before starting Ember & Brune with Carrie, Brandie was a lead designer for a high end, custom home builder, who served the Chicagoland to Wisconsin market. There, Brandie was integral in the design of home additions, exterior elements & large scale projects – and many kitchen & bath remodeling projects as well! She worked with her clients on every aspect of the design process from initial consultation to budgeting, scheduling & construction oversight. She managed multiple clients simultaneously while liaising with a team of supporting professionals to deliver projects on time & on budget to her clients.
For many years, prior to her position as a lead designer for the high end home builder, Brandie was on the team of a luxury kitchen & bath design firm in Barrington, IL. She rounds out her industry experience having also worked in the design department of a big box store & a high end furniture firm. The degree she holds is a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design from The Illinois Institute of Art Schaumburg, Illinois Council for Interior Design Accreditation.
Brandie is an award winning designer…in 2013, she walked away with not just one, but SEVEN awards for her design work as judged by her industry peers in the National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) Design Visions Awards design contest for the Chicago Midwest Chapter of the NKBA. She has received recent “Best of Houzz for Customer Satisfaction” repeat awards & her kitchen & bathroom design work has been published in Chicago Home Magazine, Luxe Magazine, Barrington Quintessential & Northwest Quarterly publications.
You can always tell when you are working with an inherently creative person, as their design passion extends into their personal lives. Dance is another outlet for Brandie’s creativity, she teaches jazz, hip hop & ballet, & enjoys sharing this passion with her daughter. She loves traveling with her children & husband - they are on a quest to see more of our country’s national parks. “Nothing is more inspiring & peaceful than nature’s beauty,” she says.
